The Cat-loving Prodigy
Our products are designed and manufactured by the people, for the people and that doesn't end with knowing where your clothes come from and the people who make them. We’re bringing luxury quality clothing to the everyday American and that means real people and real stories. To this day, all of our models have been our friends rather than professionals and we want you to get to know them.
Meet Evan, our next friend and model we’re introducing you to as part of our #MeetTheModel blog series. He’s our best kept secret from the modeling agencies and as part of our first ever studio photoshoot, an original GETTEES model (or OG, as we call them)!
Who do you know at GETTEES and how did you meet?
Xaw Yang! My first cousin is actually cousins with Xaw (a GETTEES design intern). The first time we met, we were playing ping pong together at a birthday party!
What do you do full time?
I'm currently a full time student at Michigan State University studying packaging.
In 10 years, where do you hope to be?
I hope to be somewhere other than home, discovering my passion in hopes of changing the lives of those around me. I desire to express the genuine love I received from my family and friends to others through teaching or counseling.
Do you spend time in Detroit? If so, what are some of your favorite things to do and places to go?
I do, occasionally! Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters (in Capital Park) is a must! I always grab myself a vanilla latte, head to the Z-Lot, then go on a romantic walk along the Riverwalk (usually by myself haha).
What made you want to model for GETTEES?
People had always encouraged me to be a model growing up so I always wanted to give it a try. When I was approached by Xaw to model for GETTEES, I felt so privileged. It was one of the greatest opportunities ever offered to me.
Describe your style.
Plain and simple. Minimal design on any piece of clothing.
What is your favorite GETTEES piece so far?
Heavyweight Long Sleeves! They look amazing and are extremely comfortable.
Do you have a favorite TV show?
Reverse butterfly. It feels great on the arms and chest and it improves posture!
Can't go wrong with Sushi.
Favorite sport to play? Watch?
I really enjoy playing volleyball. I'm always down to play.
If you could hop on a plane today, where would you go?
Straight to Hawaii. No exceptions. There's just so much you can do in Hawaii from scuba diving into the ocean to flying in a helicopter above the volcanoes to ziplining in the jungle.
What would you do with a million dollars right now?
I would purchase a substantial amount of Dasani bottles simply because my family grew up drinking tons of it. So having a large amount in stock would quench my Dasani deficit problem. Then I would reinvest the remaining money into the stock market.
Any current obsessions?
Cats. They are literally my weakness.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
"Anything you can do I can do better, I can do anything better than you," is the statement that has been given to me by those who learn that I usually can do anything better than them.
