#4. The Gracefully Classy & Creative Michigander
Our products are designed and manufactured by the people, for the people and that doesn't end with knowing where your clothes come from and the people who make them. We’re bringing luxury quality clothing to the everyday American and that means real people and real stories. To this day, all of our models have been our friends rather than professionals and we want you to get to know them.
Our next friend and model we’re introducing you to as part of our #MeetTheModel blog series is Lisa! Equally comfortable in front and behind the camera, a former dancer and native Michigander, Lisa’s an all around creative who’s more organized than most of us. Read more to find out Lisa’s secret talent.
Who do you know at GETTEES and how did you meet?
Emily! We met working for the University of Michigan a while back and bonded over our shared love for photography and design. We actually both interned for the same photographer while in college, but at different times and didn’t know it! Despite new jobs and several moves, we’ve stayed friends since!
What do you do full time?
I’m an event coordinator, graphic designer, and photographer at the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching at the University of Michigan.
In 10 years, where do you hope to be?
I want to pursue event planning and would ideally like to be in a senior management position leading a team of event planners, possibly at a large scale venue of some sort or a hotel.
Do you spend time in Detroit? If so, what are some of your favorite things to do and places to go?
Yes, my favorite thing about Detroit is the murals. I’m embarrassed to say how many pictures I’ve taken in front of murals… Asides from exploring new murals, I enjoy going to Tigers games and discovering new restaurants and coffee shops (many of which I’ve tried out with Emily actually)!
What made you want to model for GETTEES?
Emily :) But also, my favorite thing about the brand is that everything is sourced stateside, made locally and that the clothing is pre-shrunk and not see-through. That’s a huge thing for me because I like clothing that are fitted and am always so disappointed in a brand when I wash a new piece of clothing and can no longer wear it after!
Do you have any style icons?
Yes, Blake Lively, Meghan Markle and Jennifer Aniston
Describe your style.
Minimal, yet girly.
What are 3 staple, can’t live without, pieces in your closet?
An army green jacket, the perfect fit skinny jeans, and a pair of flats that go with everything
What is your favorite GETTEES piece so far?
The box top! I like that its longer than your average crop but the box shape makes it different than the typical crew-neck tee shirt and it’s so versatile.
Favorite TV show?
Seinfeld & The Office
Bike Riding. I love being outside. Spinning classes are the next best thing.
Fettuccine Alfredo. Every time.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like going on bike rides, roller skating, karaoke and trying new restaurants.
If you could hop on a plane today, where would you go?
I would go on a tour of Europe
What would you do with a million dollars right now?
With a million dollars, I would start a business. I would love to open a restaurant and/or have a floral and events company.
Any current obsessions?
Graphic & website design.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
People are always surprised when they hear me sing! (I have a very quiet speaking voice)
