#1. The Michigan Country Boy
Our products are designed and manufactured by the people, for the people and that doesn't end with knowing where your clothes come from and the people who make them. We’re bringing luxury quality clothing to the everyday American and that means real people and real stories. To this day, all of our models have been our friends rather than professionals and we want you to get to know them.
To start off our #MeetTheModel blog series, we want you to get to know Matt, our all-American, car-loving, country-music singing Michigan country boy, not to mention one of our first ever models at GETTEES. Read on as we asked Matt a few questions about himself.
In 10 years, where do you hope to be?
10 years from now, I will be living a young family life here in the metro Detroit area.
Do you spend time in Detroit? If so, what are some of your favorite things to do and places to go?
Of course! Detroit has so much to offer and not much can beat heading to a Tigers baseball game followed up by a few drinks. Bakersfield in midtown feeds my addiction to tacos and is my go-to.
What made you want to model for GETTEES?
GETTEES represents the Detroit pride that all of us in Metro Detroit love and feel. The T-shirts have a simple style that allows me to wear them for all different occasions from work, on a date, or to go out with a couple of buddies.
Describe your style.
I have a very simple style. My go-to is always jeans and a clean tee (which explains why I just get GETTEES tees in every color).
What is your favorite GETTEES piece so far?
My go-to so far is the Pennwood Pinstripe SS - the entire Pinstripe collection is amazing - but with fall moving in, something about the neutral green makes me always grab the Pennwood from my closet.
Can one have an individual favorite workout? I definitely like lifting. Fitness is a pretty big part of my life and I go to the gym almost every day with one of my roommates. But I also just like being active in general and if I could, I’d go hiking just about every day.
Tacos... Tacos are life.
Favorite sport to play? Watch?
I've always been a really big football fan and played through high school growing up. I follow college football and football Saturdays will take up most of my fall weekends.
If you could hop on a plane today, where would you go?
I'm heading to Colorado, the mountains are absolutely breathtaking. Anywhere I can be outdoors, enjoy some beautiful views, hike with some friends (and hopefully their dogs) is high on my list of places to travel. I’m heading to Utah pretty soon to go camping and hiking and Zion with some friends and am really looking forward to it. Those kind of trips are the best to me.
What would you do with a million dollars right now?
I think I could use a few new cars. With a million dollars, I’d fix up my truck (more than I already do, it’s one of my hobbies) and buy a Koenigsegg one:1.
Any current obsessions?
Always obsessed with doggos.. but really who isn't?
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
There’s probably quite a bit. To start, don't make any movie references around me because I won't know what you're talking about. I don't watch much TV or watch movies. I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie too. I’ve been riding motorcycles since I was legally able to and I’m certified in skydiving. I actually started the skydiving club at Western Michigan University with one of my best friends who is becoming a pilot and got hooked on jumping. I’ll do almost anything. I’m hoping to cross off base jumping from my bucket list pretty soon.
