Our products are designed and manufactured by the people, for the people and that doesn't end with knowing where your clothes come from and the people who make them. We’re bringing luxury quality clothing to the everyday American and that means real people and real stories. To this day, all of our models have been our friends rather than professionals and we want you to get to know them.
Our next friend and model we’re introducing you to as part of our #MeetTheModel blog series is Ridwan! Ridwan started modeling with us just a few months ago and quickly became family. While it took a little convincing to get him in front of the camera the first time, soon after, Ridwan was a regular on set. We couldn’t imagine not having him there putting smiles on everyone's faces with his charming smile! (Not to mention the ladies on Instagram love him)
What made you want to model for GETTEES?
I originally met Emily and the GETTEES team at WeWork since our companies both have office spaces there. Emily told me about GETTEES. She said: "I think you should model for us!" Originally I was flabbergasted, I gotta say, but seeing how passionate she was about her job and Detroit made me say why not? I've really enjoyed it. I wanted to model for GETTEES because it's authentic and genuine...a total 180 from the cliche modeling experience.
What do you do full time?
I work for Accenture as a Digital Integration Business Consultant in our Digital Products practice under Accenture Interactive. Yes, it is a tongue twister but I love what I do.
In 10 years, where do you hope to be?
Honestly, I just hope to be living comfortably with my family.
Do you spend time in Detroit? If so, what are some of your favorite things to do and places to go?
Not really, I just started exploring Detroit recently. There are lots of places to see and I definitely need to catch up to my friends. I’m open to any and all recommendations!
What is your favorite GETTEES piece so far?
The Detroit Heritage Tee in Dove is my favorite GETTEES. I wore it to my first world wonder while traveling in Brazil.
If you could hop on a plane today, where would you go?
I am on a world wonder adventure right now, so I would probably head over to China to see the Great Wall or India to see the Taj Mahal, and bring a suitcase of GETTEES of course.
What would you do with a million dollars right now?
Buy my mom a house! Easy.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I’m actually an introvert, wrap your head around that. GETTEES has really been a positive experience in that regard, it allows me to meet great people and have some fun. I’m also originally from Nigeria - my parents are Nigerian so I had a very multicultural upbringing.
*Are you interested in modeling for GETTEES? We’re always looking for fresh faces in the Detroit area. The best part? No experience necessary. Email us at thepeople@gettees.us or follow us and DM us on Instagram @gettees.us. We’d love to chat!
