ONE WEEK. FIVE DIFFERENT STYLES.
The week prior to the shoot, we had our DP (Director of Photography) Jordan Payne, meet us at the GETTEES factory to map out our plan for the following week. Scene: the whole team wandering around the factory with echoes of, “Oh this would look awesome!” and “Yeah let’s definitely shoot that...” reverberating throughout the walls. By spending some time dedicated solely to the look and feel of the shoot without the pressure of actually filming yet, we were able to trade ideas and round up some creativity from everyone’s perspectives.
|Men’s Heavyweight Crew
Clearly, I really embraced the whole “casual Monday” thing. This week kicked off with getting our factory set up for a video shoot and the whole team was in full preparation mode. My primary focuses were comfort and function, so I threw on a men’s Heavyweight Crew in Sand, and tied the front of the shirt in a knot. I paired the tee with grey skinny jeans, and black sandals, perfect for running around the factory. To tie the outfit’s tones together, I finished it off with my favorite beige baseball hat.
Final Thoughts: 10/10 highly recommend an oversized tee for every slightly hectic Monday. Who says the ladies can’t wear men’s tees? (I’m also officially adding “Professional Clothing Steamer” to my LinkedIn skills section, please endorse).
|Women’s Heavyweight Box
Factory shoot day! Let me take a moment to highlight the shining star of Tuesday’s outfit: the women’s Heavyweight Box in Mulberry. It gets pretty toasty in our factory when we’ve filled it with cameras and studio lights, but this girl stayed cool and comfortable thanks to my slightly cropped tee. Complete with black velvet skinny jeans, oversized gold sunglasses and a vintage denim jacket, I felt like I could have waltzed into the background of a Van Halen music video without my credentials being questioned.
Final Thoughts: Mulberry matches everything. It’s also the name of a small fruit that grows on trees in Corktown and tastes like a tiny grape, but I’ll dive more into that tomorrow.
|Women’s Heavyweight Crop
If you’re still not convinced that our team is really cool, today we shot a campaign in the streets of Corktown, Detroit. The recipe for an authentic GETTEES photoshoot includes: one large van for outfit changes and clothing racks, a handful of models (a.k.a. our friends), and coffee. We started shooting at 8 a.m. with an initial outdoor temperature of 86 degrees. As the climate rose, so did the number of women’s Heavyweight Crop tees being worn. I went with a bright peach top, dark blue boyfriend jeans, and casual white sneakers.
Final Thoughts: One highlight of the day was the discovery of mulberry trees blooming throughout the neighborhood; the small red fruit is delicious, but very messy.
|Women’s Heavyweight Box
Thursday’s agenda consisted of a standard day at the office, followed by a GETTEES women’s try-on event in the evening. I jumped at the opportunity to dress my outfit up a little, so I started off with a women’s Heavyweight Box in Dove. Cue sleek black jeans, suede sandals, and a colorful silk neck scarf to complete the look.
Final Thoughts: For a more casual Friday Jr., feel free to swap out the silk scarf for a cool necklace, and trade in the kitten heels for a pair of sneakers or sandals.
|Women’s Heavyweight Crew
Okay, I know the pants are a lot. But I’ve never met an animal print I didn’t like, and I’m also not one to shy away from wearing clothes to the office that feel like pajamas. To wrap up a successfully eventful week, I took a women’s Heavyweight Crew in Lincoln and tied the front into a knot, similar to Monday’s look. For a day of running around downtown Detroit, I opted for chunky white sneakers, but this outfit could easily be transitioned from work to play with a pair of heels. Final touches included a few pieces of gold jewelry, and a badass photographer/coworker/friend (hey, Em!).
Final Thoughts: I love Fri-yays.
